I’ve spent the better part of the last 45 years avoiding sleep. Ask my mother…I hardly ever slept as a child. I’m pretty sure I took naps as an infant, but she’s right about the rest of the years since. I remember when I was three and being sent to my room for a nap. Ha! She could send me to my room, but she couldn’t make me sleep!
Over the years, I’ve been heard saying things like, “I can’t sleep during the day,” and “Nap? Yeah, right,” and “I’ll have plenty of time to sleep when I’m dead.”
Well, guess what I did today?
Yup – took a nap.
Aside from the fact that I’ve been sick all week, maybe – just maybe – I’m coming to grips with the idea that I’m likely not going to miss anything if I take better care of myself and rest when I feel the need.
i said the same thing when i was younger ,why sleep its a wasted of time .. but actually not i come to realise its healthier and better to sleep or nap if you have time enough to do so of course.. love the cat pic btw hes cuteee. 🙂
Suzanne, did you enjoy your first nap? I’ve read that taking a nap about 15 minutes every day is good for health; it likes filling in new energy to your body…

It sure looks really tired to me. How lovely. It gives me a nice feeling when I’m taking my short nap. It’s like gaining up some energy with all the stress and works in my daily routine life.
I too feel frustrated at not being able to get a full 8 hours of sleep. I’m lucky if I get 5 or 6. So happy you got a chance to take a cat nap!
Steve Pavlina of Steve Pavlina.com has some great articles on napping. Maybe you should check them out.
Maybe you have an aversion or fear of sleeping? Lots of people have that. Most of the time they don’t realize it. And if you don’t have that dread for sleeping, it could also be like sleeping is a waste of time. I had the same mentality on sleeping which is, “if I sleep I can’t do anything and that’s time wasted in this life where time is too short.” But it is not too bad. Really. It can be quite rewarding already, not including the dreams. Oh yeah! Dreaming can be quite fun! 😀
Trust me, you’ll learn to love naps again!! Hopefully the napping will give you a ton more energy during your waking hours.
