The old song says, “rainy days and Mondays always get me down…” Well, not this girl. Today was a most excellent day, as a matter of fact, and it was both a rainy day AND a Monday.
What was so excellent about today?
Let’s see….
First, there’s a new man in my life. We’ve had two dates. I like him. He likes me. We enjoy each other’s company. It’s fun. (BTW: I should tell you, dating is something I’ve never really done as an adult. Hell, never really did it as a teen, either. So, this is NEW for me. What I used to engage in could best be described as taking a hostage, but that’s a post for another day.)
The best part about the new man in my life is that I’m not tripping. I’m not spending every waking minute analyzing his every word and deed – I’m just living my life and enjoying the entrance of someone new in it. REALLY NICE change for me! And best of all, I am not nervous, self-conscious, or any of the other low-self-esteem-indicating things I’ve been in the past where men are concerned. My attitude is, I’ll let him get to know me, I’ll get to know him and we’ll see what happens. I hear this is the way this is supposed to be done, but like I said, this is all new to me. But it’s really nice. Really nice.
Second, I had three really productive, really insightful, really wow-this-is-what-I-love-to-do-for-a-living coaching client sessions today. Proving once again when you do what you love, it doesn’t feel like work. And I know I made a difference in the lives of three women today. Doesn’t get much better than that!
Third, because it was rainy, PDD and our neighbor (who is Second Son’s age, but likes hanging out over here and doesn’t perceive PDD to be an infernal pest) spent the day on the computers while I worked. We listened to music, they surfed and then about 3:30, we watched a movie during which I catnapped. Completely decadent of me, I realize, but hey – it was a rainy day!
Fourth, my dad stopped by, which is always a nice surprise. He was in the city for an eye doctor appointment, and had dinner with Baby Sis and her family after he left here. I suspect Mom was enjoying a nice, quiet, rainy day at home while he was galavanting around here. Hope she got more than a catnap out of the day, though. Sleep and getting any is always an issue for her, so I hope she was able to be a real slug today and do nothing all day long.
Fifth, this evening, Completely Clueless called and PDD got to talk to him. She seems much more at peace with the idea of her daddy being in jail after having been able to talk to him directly. I’m glad he called, even though I told him he’d be paying for these calls, one way or another.
Then, the new man called saying he’d like to spend some time with me, if I’m free. Which I was (after sending PDD off to Incredible Pizza with the neighbors, thrilling her, freeing me up.)
All in all – give me a rainy day which is also a Monday anytime!
Big grins and congrats on attracting great new things (and people) into your life! You deserve to enjoy all of it 🙂
Nancy
I still say we declare the Monday you had as a national holiday!
