This is a picture of my neighbor’s front yard. Lovely, huh?
It was gorgeous Sunday night. See that street light at the right edge of the picture? The light from it shining through the ice-covered branches of what once was pretty tree made it sparkle like a crystal Christmas tree ornament.
Now…not so much. The saddest part of all of this – even sadder than being without heat or Internet – is that this is what 1 in 20 trees in the city of Tulsa look like. We’ve lost a significant amount of shade for next summer, and I will go on record now and predict significantly more Ozone Alert days, too.
Well, Barnes and Noble just announced they’re closing in 10 mins, so I better pack this baby up and clear out.
Today, I am grateful for dry, warm socks. 🙂
Hi girlfriend… Are you able to use your oven for heating or is it one of those new ones that you can't ignite it without electricity?
Nope – no can do on the oven – it’s one of those new ones. We’re staying at my sister’s because her oven we CAN light. I’m headed out to Patsy’s now to charge my cell phone and get some work done on the computer. (No Internet out there, but she has power, so I can get a bunch of stuff done and stacked up for my next visit to Barnes and Noble.)
If you’ve got a working phone – call my cell. I’ve been trying to check on you.
Well, I don’t have my cell with me so I don’t have your number on me. I had to leave with it Dad this morning because his phone is completely gone. Mike says that you should be able to light that oven with a lighter anyway. Does that sound plausible? He thinks so…
Can you call me at work? You should have that number right?
